The Blameless One!

Over the past nearly one month I have tracked the number of people, organizations, outfits, personal behavior, sociology, ideologies etc. who have been assigned blame for the gang-rape incident (I hope I do not have to repeat a-college girl-coming-from-a-movie-with-a-male-friend-at-around 9 PM-in-a-moving-bus-with-tinted-glasses) in Delhi.

First, I intend to list out these assignees, some of whom have played a double-role – assigners too! I am not going to make any comments or even implicitly judge them. But, I will make a comment on someone who has conveniently ducked behind a curtain.

 Bureaucracy

 Capitalist system

 Entertainment media (from top to bottom – Producers, directors, script writers, lyricists, choreographers, stuntmen, actors [including actresses], extras, costume designers, makeup artists, cameramen, spot boys, the typical chhotu who brings tea on the sets …)

 Immodestly dressed women

 Judiciary (assigner too!)

 Legal jurisprudence

 Local government

 Men (assigner too!)

 National government

 News media (assigner too!)

 Parents (assignors too!)

 Patriarchy

 Police (assigner too!)

 Political parties (assigner too!)

 Politicians (assigner too!)

 Public display of affection/love/lust (PDA/PDL)

 Religious leaders

 Religious rituals

 Teachers (assigner too!)

 Working women

… and others.

There is more, the one who got away. He is neither an assignor nor assignee. He is God.

Oh, I missed another one, and it is an institution which has done a world of bad and that is perhaps the reason it skipped me. One bad adding to a universe of bad is no bad at all!

What takes the cake is that the institution is not an assignee, which it justifiably should have been, but is an assignor, again unjustifiably. This is a classic case of pot calling kettle black!

Religion, the ultimate Blameless One!

Religion is the wished-for sacred side of the believer. It has to remain sacred!

Hence, Blameless! The underlying thesis that sacred cannot be blamed. Matheikal. That is One unassailable logic! Thanks. :)

Those who believe in God also believe in the haphazard. After all, didn't God tell Job:

"Do not be surprised that things have not gone your way: the universe is greater than you. Do not be surprised that you do not understand why they have not gone your way: for you cannot fathom the logic of the universe."?

Personally, I don't think God really has the time for puny Man but mighty Man likes to think he is of some importance.

So, shouldn't He remain off the list?

As for religion, this will be one of its lesser sins!

NNE, if as I claim religion created God, then that is the biggest sin of them al :)

In the Bibleitwas Job, elsewhere it is Harischandra. The character is as universal as the instance is specific.

If you see in cases of child molesting priests, people continue to pray the same church - religion/God can do no wrong.

Yes Amrit, isn't that disgusting? I had mentioned that in my dialogue with God.
