Go Leander!

I am about a day or two late.

I am incredibly happy that Leander Paes has 50 doubles titles, some of them of the truly major variety.

Here is the ultimate team player, having made his indelible mark in Davis Cup.

Here is a player of such humility, of the most genuine kind, that many would not have known (I did not) he was on 49 titles going into Miami where he clinched his half century of doubles tournament victories.

He owns Miami, having won there three times!

Here is a player who stands, if not shoulder to shoulder, at least not dwarfed by that giant of tennis doubles play, John McEnroe, who has about 70 titles.

Here is a player who showed extreme adaptability - if one checked the statistics, it should come out that Leander had played with more partners than McEnroe.

Am I delirious or what!

Thanks a million, Leander!

Just keep on truckin’
I am a rootin’, tootin’, hootin’ for you!

Raghuram Ekambaram

P.S. To me, this feels far better than the long-time-in-coming the hundredth of the hundreds by Sachin Tendulkar.

Raghu, nobody congragulates Leander for his 50th title and it has been ignored as easily as another scam

Isn't that the problem with the public Balu? It is so easy to get on the bandwagon, say, a hundred hundred of Sachin ...

Tell me, is it so easy to get to 50 doubles titles? Why not celebrate it? I am happy I did ... why are the others not?
