… Yes or No.
Balwant Singh Rajoana had been awarded the death penalty for murdering / conspiring to murder and succeeding (lawyerese that I do not set much store by) and he is to be murdered by the State on March 31st (the financial year ends on that date, you see!).
I need people to give me a one-word answer – either YES (Mr. Rajoana should be murdered by the State on March 31st) or NO (Should not be murdered by the State at all). I know that in the above formulation there is a gap between ‘0’ and ‘1’, like ‘May be murdered by the State at a later time’. I did not claim that the answer is digital. It is actually pseudo-digital, and the gap is nicely settled. Please do not disturb.
A few points before you give the answer.
1. Mr. Rajoana was affiliated to a terrorist organization
2. The target was NOT an ‘innocent’ (a politician after all, the tribe that is judged collectively guilty and the burden of proof of innocence devolves on the individual)
3. Mr. Rajoana had not gone in for appeal of the sentence
Now, answer please.

Raghu, given the difficulty of executing a criminal in India, it is better to do away with the death sentence and instead stick with Jail unto death
Balu,
Without endorsing your reason, I agree with you that death penalty should be abolished.
